Our 21st marching season is upon us, starting with our annual parade through the Wedgwood neighborhood on June 12 to thank our Wedgwood neighbors and the Wedgwood Community Church that serves as our rehearsal home - and culminating with a trip to the Vancouver Pride Parade on August 5. See our events calendar for the full lineup of parades.
We need a bass player! Do you know someone who enjoys swing/big band music and plays the bass? Let us know!
Also, mark your calendars for a free event coming up in June:
Purple Passion Swing Band
Saturday, June 16 at 7PM
Crossroads Mall Market Stage
Do you have an upcoming event in need of live music? We're always looking for new opportunities to perform - contact us!
Have you been waiting for the right time to join a musical group? (Or another musical group?) Or perhaps you've always thought it would be fun to spin flags in a color guard - or used belong to a color guard and miss it.
Now's the time!
We have two upcoming opportunities for you to learn more about Rainbow City Performing Arts' ensembles and get your feet wet:
Our Justice for All concert series has been established to celebrate civil rights and our unfinished journey toward equality and unity. Through our music, we plan to honor the LGBTQIA women, men, and gender non-conforming, people of color, immigrants, and other marginalized populations who have fought to make our country great. Our band was formed for Seattle Pride in 1998, and is a proud member of the Lesbian and Gay Band Association.
With this concert we are going to take the audience on a journey exploring tales of the enchanting and bizarre. We’ll reflect on stories that show sometimes the ostracized become the most influential and that often times we may draw power from those very things that make us queer. Together we’ll travel through the looking glass and take time to enjoy the frivolity of the ride.

Mark your calendars for:
Saturday, January 6th at 7:30PM
Third Place Commons
Lake Forest Park

Swing, Latin, Pop and great Jazz standards. Come listen! Come dance! Come support our organization! We would love to see you there!
This has been such a rewarding season already at Rainbow City Performing Arts. We have so much to be thankful for and so many people who have warmed our hearts during our 20th anniversary year! I have greatly enjoyed the opportunity to create a true partnership with our Assistant Director of the concert band, Erin Howard. The new board members are already working their tails off getting things ready for an amazing 2018 - 2019 Season. We have a big fundraiser in the works for June 2018 and don’t forget about our 20th Anniversary Party in the spring!
Board elections are coming up in a couple weeks (October 10-17) and we'd love to see you run for one of the open positions:
Do you have a knack for coordinating? Want to coordinate ticket sales, lobby decorations, the marching retreat, and scheduling the events our ensembles perform in? If so, the Director of Events position is the one for you!
After a nationwide search, PPSB is thrilled to welcome RCPA's own Artistic Director, Timothy V. Norris, Jr. as our new Musical Director.
Additionally, PPSB is always looking for new gig opportunities so if you or anyone you know is looking for an outstanding swing band, be sure to let us know!
In recognition of Michael’s spirit and contributions, the board created this award to recognize inspirational leaders each year to motivate us to be the kindest, most playful hard workers for equality that we can be.
Do you know someone whose contributions should be recognized? Learn more here and please complete our nomination form. Nominations must be received by October 22nd and the winner will be announced November 12th at Midnight at the Movies.
Don't forget that Concert Band will be performing Midnight at the Movies, a 2pm Sunday matinee, on November 12th at Broadway Performance Hall. Expect some fun artwork, postcards and posters to come your way in October. Get your tickets here!
This has been a fantastic first month with the concert band and swing band! Our first rehearsals preparing for Midnight at the Movies are in the books and I have been impressed by the sound, talent, and grace exhibited by our entire membership. Almost 100 concert band members are playing in that little fellowship hall and Purple Passion are sounding like professionals as we prepare for our demo recording! I have a feeling this is going to be the greatest Rainbow City season ever!
Thanks to all who participated and showed support in what's been a thrilling 20th summer of marching and great music by several RCPA groups! We have some wonderful opportunities coming up! Follow it all by Liking our Facebook Page and keeping tabs on Events.
